Moscow Metro – World Cup Edition!

Everyone know knows that this has been the Best World Cup EVER. Viewing from afar we’ve had the shock knockouts of the big teams, the elevation of the smaller ones, the joy of football, watching Japan, Senegal and of course England.

Meanwhile in Russia fans on the ground can’t say enough about the hospitality of their hosts, the great weather (who knew?), reasonably priced beer, great organisation and fantastic infrastructure. Russia is an enormous country, but it’s very well connected. And once you’ve reached the city where the next match is being held, some of the world’s great metro systems.

Moscow Metro is stunning. Worth a visit just to see the underground deco ballrooms that allow trains to stop in them!

And during the World Cup it’s ramped up a notch. Fans (and everyone else!) can view the matches live from the trains and there’s even been a few underground parties as jubilant winning followers can’t stop singing after they’ve left the stadium!

It’s not just Moscow though. For the tournament we updated our Moscow Metro app to cover more than Moscow and St Petersburg, adding Samara, Ekatinburg, Volgograd and Nizhny Nogorod too. And (of course, you might say) we’ve had record downloads and usage from visitors coming in from all over the world.
